Vintage (c. 1933) German photo album, over 250 photos, life before World War 2:
$79.99

This vintage photo album is a unique look into German life in 1933. This was the same year H*tl*r came to power, and six years before what\'s considered the official start of World War 2.

The album is a simple pebbled red material (possibly linen or cloth, I am not 100% sure). Inside, the photos are set on very thick black paper (similar to a thick cardboard) and separated by waxy sheets containing spiderweb looking designs). The cover shows some signs of wear by the spine and along the edges.

There are approximately 255 photos. Two of the first three pages are labeled. The journey begins in Berneck (located in Bavaria, a state in SE Germany) 1933. This page is also labeled with Goldmühl (also in Bavaria), and Hollonaden-Brücke (also Bavaria). The third page is again labeled Berneck and Goldmühl, and also Oelsnitstal (I think, one of the letters is a little smudged). This could possibly be Oelsnitz, located in Saxony. This may have been the family\'s summer holiday.

Unfortunately, none of the other photos are labeled with location or date. Much of the book seems to be in a summer or warmer season, but some pages show what looks like a holiday gathering, and the last few pages show people in the snow and ice skating. Perhaps this spans the whole year 1933, or it could be several years.

Photos include a range of subjects, including landscapes, buildings, people. There are several photos where the people are dressed in traditional German lederhosen, and several photos of sports teams.

Some photos are inserted into four corner pieces, while others have been glued in. There are several places where photos have been torn out or fallen out, you can still see the glue residue left behind. On one page there is just a small piece of the photo remaining, the rest of it must have been torn off.

The album measures approx 9\" tall x 13\" across x 1\" thick.
