A silk haori woman\'s jacket we brought from Kyoto.This and the others we have listed are from our personal collection.This one is unique because of the subtle wave pattern in the silk material.We tried to show this in the close-up photos # 6 & 7.We overexposed these photos in an attempt to show this pattern.A lot of Japanese art and life is in a \"wabi-sabi\" feeling where the beauty is quietly shown only if you look closely.It also has a small samurai crest (mon) just behind the back of the neck. (See close up photos)This means the original owner of this could claim samurai ancestors from their family name.The all-black exterior is an indication this was formal wear; bought out only for important occasions and not worn every day.This would have been worn over a similar all black long kimono.
