Charming vintage miniature stoneware crock with classic gray and tan coloring, cobalt blue decoration, and two small applied handles. The bottom retains its original “Made in Western Germany” paper sticker.
The crock has a wonderful old-world German farmhouse look with visible throwing lines, textured salt-glaze style surface, and naturally varied coloring throughout. The blue decoration and tiny handled form make this a great display piece for a primitive, country, farmhouse, or vintage pottery collection.
This piece does show its age. There are small chips/nicks and areas of discoloration and staining, including darker discoloration inside. The exterior also has considerable color variation compared with the bottom. Some of this appears consistent with the character of the glaze and firing, while other areas may be from age and previous use. We have made no attempt to aggressively clean or alter the surface.
Because of its age and condition, we would consider this primarily a decorative/collectible piece rather than recommend it for food use.
Condition
Vintage pre-owned condition with small chips/nicks, surface wear, glaze irregularities, and noticeable discoloration/staining from age and previous use. Interior has darker discoloration. Exterior coloring varies considerably from the bottom. Original Made in Western Germany sticker remains attached. Sold as found. Please review all photos closely for condition and approximate measurements.
