Up for sale is a unique vintage West German wall clock dated November 1969. This piece features a striking contrast of a bright red velvet face inlay set against a black wrought-iron scrollwork frame with brass corner spandrels and finials.
Inside, it houses an authentic West German brass mechanical movement by Schmeckenbecker with a top-mounted brass chime bell.
Condition Details:
Mechanical Function (TESTED & WORKING ON VIDEO): The internal mechanical movement, gear train, and bell chime mechanism have been manually cycled and function smoothly. Please watch the included video in the listing gallery to see and hear the chime ring!
Battery Compartment / Electricals: The C-battery terminal shows visible blue battery corrosion on the bottom spring contact (see photos). The electronic winding circuit has not been tested with continuous battery power and may require cleaning or light servicing to run continuously on a battery.
Cosmetics: Good overall vintage condition. The brass faceplate, hands, and metal scrollwork are fully intact with light age-appropriate patina. The back wood cover retains its original factory date stamp (11-69 West-Germany).
