In excellent overall condition with evident general wear.
Hand-carved vintage West African wooden mask, featuring an elongated face with a high forehead, narrow nose, almond eyes, and a distinctive crescent / horned crest at the top. The mask is carved from a single piece of wood with a separate raised crest element, showing deep patina, surface wear, and tool marks consistent with age and hand workmanship.
The reverse is hollowed, with multiple small perimeter holes likely used for attachment, mounting, or costume wear. Remnants of old cord remain at the top opening. Surface shows expected age cracks, wear, and darkened oxidation, adding to its character and authenticity as a traditional decorative or ceremonial form.
While no specific ethnic group is definitively attributed, the form and styling are consistent with mid-20th-century West African tribal masks, made for ritual use or early export to the Western art market.
