Vintage Wedding Basket Box Indonesia Trousseau Dowry Floral Beaded Shell Sumatra For Sale

Vintage mid century, Sumatra Wedding Basket Box, Indonesian trousseau dowry gift box. Beautiful and bright floral design with hand-beaded embellishments. Made with rattan, beads, pods, and shells reflecting the rich culture of Sumatra Island. The multi-color palette and unique craftsmanship make it a standout collectible piece.The top is a symmetrical eight-petaled floral sunburst motif in vibrant reddish-brown, yellow, and deep blue glass seed beads—traditionally symbolizing protection, prosperity, and marital blessing.A rim of natural cowrie/nassa shells accented with dried seed pods surrounds.
Sides have red and green scrolling geometric beadwork, with dangling multi-color beaded fringe along the lower edges. Excellent vintage condition which I long ago got from a collector in upstate NY that has been wonderfully preserved. The beadwork is tight and intact with virtually no bead loss, as are the shells and pods. Only some age-appropriate wear is present on the underlying fabric and fibers.I have enjoyed displaying it and now time for someone else to have it to help save ex racing greyhounds-because I love them more.
