Up for sale is a beautiful, rare World War II-era (circa 1942–1945) unsilvered glass Christmas ornament in a stunning, translucent lavender/purple color.
Because of wartime metal shortages, this piece features its original, intact paper/cardboard cap and a string hanger. The glass blank was likely manufactured by Corning (often decorated and sold by Shiny Brite). Due to wartime rations on silver nitrate, it was left beautifully transparent.Condition:Good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. The translucent purple finish is clean but has age-related wear and some paint loss as seen in pictures. Cap is secure and original. Perfect piece for a home-front history buff or vintage Christmas collector.
