A fascinating piece of American Christmas history! This authentic circa 1943β1945 unsilvered glass ornament features translucent red and pale spiral stripes together with its scarce wartime folded-cardboard suspension system and wire hanger.
When wartime restrictions made silver nitrate and conventional metal ornament caps unavailable, American manufacturers created clear glass ornaments with simple painted decoration and ingenious paper or cardboard hangers. Surviving examples retaining these fragile components are especially appealing to advanced vintage Christmas collectors.
