Vintage View-Master, 76 Reels, 15 Postcards/Slides, Handpainted Padded Box, 1946 For Sale

This Lot Sale is an excellent example of Americana and Folk Art. The 99 items offered here have been protected over the years in a commercial grocery store wooden box (probably pine or plywood), common from the 1930s - 1950s. The original owner has painstakingly handmade a unique protective, padded insert that covers all inner areas of the box. The box was then hand painted on all sides except the back and bottom, to cover the store branding, such as those by Kraft, Swift's Brookfield, or Borden. You can still see the four small staples on the bottom of the box that hold it together.
The 76 reels cover scenic views from around the world. The 5 New color slides of the Fantastic Caverns of Springfield, Missouri include the 'world's longest underground bridge'.
