The sculptural monkey is finished in a dark black/bronze tone with contrasting polished brass/gold-tone details on the face, hands and feet. Its exaggerated long arms and legs give the piece a distinctive Mid-Century Modern character. The two original-style clear glass shakers fit into the monkey’s outstretched arms and retain their perforated metal screw-top lids.
This unusual design is a recognized form of Soviet-era decorative tableware and is highly collectible today for its combination of functional design, humor and striking sculptural appearance. Similar USSR monkey spice and salt-and-pepper holders are generally attributed to the 1960s–1970s.

Very good vintage condition for its age. Both glass shakers appear intact without chips or cracks and retain their metal screw-top lids. The monkey has attractive original age-related patina, surface wear, oxidation and areas of finish/color loss, particularly to the dark finish and brass/gold-tone accents. These signs of age add character and are consistent with a genuine vintage Soviet-era piece.
