📜 Historical Background
The GAZ-M20 Pobeda was one of the most important early post-war Soviet passenger cars, produced by GAZ (Gorky Automobile Plant).
Introduced in 1946, the Pobeda (“Victory”) symbolized Soviet recovery after World War II. It was one of the first Soviet cars with a modern ponton-style body (without separate fenders), which was advanced for its time.
Production continued until 1958, and the model became widely used by government officials, taxi services, and private owners. It was also exported to several Eastern Bloc countries.
In the 1970s–1980s, Soviet souvenir badges often celebrated classic vehicles from earlier decades. This badge reflects the cultural importance of the Pobeda as a symbol of post-war rebuilding and national pride.
