Vintage US NAVY - NS Meyer - CONQUEROR Dress Sword - Germany - Vietnam Era For Sale

A vintage U.S. Navy military dress or ceremonial sword featuring the "Conqueror" trademark and manufactured by N.S. Meyer, Inc. in Germany. The late owner of this sword served for 24 years in the US Navy. His earliest assignment was to the USS Edisto, with multiple trips to the Arctic and Antarctic to replenish supplies to research stations. After three tours in Vietnam, he served a five-year NATO tour in Rome and Naples, Italy, doing operations analysis. He rose in rank to Captain and became the Commanding Officer of the USS Orleck, a destroyer. Prior to the Orleck he was an officer with the USS Sterrett, the first cruiser to shoot down a MIG with a Terrier Missile. The blade is stamped with "Conqueror Trade Mark," "Stainless," "N.S. Meyer Inc.," and "Germany." This style of etching and hilt is consistent with mid-20th-century U.S. naval or military officer ceremonial swords produced around the 1950s to 1960s. The ricasso reveals it is a high-grade "Conqueror" line sword. The handle features a cream-colored ray-skin or imitation fish-skin grip wrapped with twisted brass wire, paired with a beautifully etched stainless steel blade displaying traditional Navy scrollwork and floral motifs.
