Vintage Stanley Bailey No. 5 jack plane, Made in USA. "BAILEY" is cast at the toe, "MADE IN U.S.A." is cast in the bed, and "No 5" is cast at the heel. It has the gray hammertone lever cap with the orange STANLEY logo. The No. 5 jack plane is the all-around workhorse every woodworker needs, good for flattening, smoothing, and edge work.

• Body: the sides have an even brown patina with light surface rust. The black japanning inside the bed is mostly intact. There is white paint splatter on the heel area.

• Sole: patina and light scratches from use. It has not been checked for flatness.

• Tote and knob: solid, with finish chips, crazing, and wear on the black finish.

• Lever cap: the hammertone paint has wear and light rust spots. The STANLEY logo is bright.

• Blade and chip breaker: surface rust and patina. The blade needs sharpening.

• Mechanism: there's sawdust and grime around the frog and depth wheel.
