A super nice high quality Stanley Model No 1246 with a 10 inch sweep, Ratcheting Bit Brace with a 3pc ball bearing chuck , universal jaws, steel clad ball bearing head, fully boxed ratchet and beautiful Cocobolo handles.
The ball bearing chuck makes tightening down and releasing
an auger bit much easier. This brace is circa 1935 to 1940 or so approximately 85 years old. Will easily last another lifetime with normal maintenance.
This Brace has the universal jaws that use traditional tapered auger bits as well as the more modern round and hex shank bits.
Tested and lubricated, the brace looks and works great. Excellent Condition, Tight. no excess play at the joints and about 90 percent original nickel plating.
Also includes 5 complimentary auger bits. Sizes are: 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2”, 5/8” and 3/4 inch, screw points are in fine shape.

I am in upstate South Carolina. I have recently retired. One of my hobbies has been woodworking, but never had the time to do it as well as would like. A few years ago I became passionate about using vintage hand tools vs. battery or electric powered whenever it made sense to do so. Today my passion still thrives and I enjoy properly oiling/waxing, cleaning or refurbishing, if needed those same vintage woodworking tools.
My goal is to place as many of these high quality, made in the USA vintage hand tools back into the hands of today’s craftsmen. I would never “part out” a good tool just for the proceeds. If the tool I have acquired is serviceable I will put it into as good of condition it can be and sell to friends or on .
