Vintage St. Claude French Briar Estate Pipe – Bent Apple (14 cm)
A classic French estate pipe stamped "St. Claude" on the shank. Originating from France’s legendary pipemaking capital in the Jura mountains, this pipe features a heavy-walled bent bowl showcase with exceptional natural birdseye and flame grain definition.
Key Highlights & Craftsmanship:
French Pipemaking Heritage: Authentic St. Claude provenance, renowned worldwide for dense, cool-smoking aged briar wood.
Substantial Bowl Proportions: Sturdy 5.0 cm bowl height with thick heat-dissipating walls (3.7 cm outer diameter).
Rich Grain Definition: Deep, hand-buffed warm walnut finish protected with museum-grade Renaissance Wax.
Comfortable Ergonomics: Balanced bent stem design offers an effortless jaw hang for long smoking sessions.
Professional Restoration & Hygiene Standards:
Chamber Preparation: Reamed clean down to healthy briar wood and sealed with a fresh micro-thin protective coating of natural activated charcoal to protect bowl walls and jumpstart cake development.
Stem: Original stem de-oxidised, polished to a deep high-gloss shine, and free of deep bite marks.
Finish: Hand-buffed with museum-grade Renaissance Wax to preserve and protect the briar surface.
💡 Important Break-In Advice for the Buyer:
To ensure optimal long-term smoking performance from the newly prepared charcoal lining, we recommend conducting your first 2–3 smokes using a standard, neutral tobacco. This allows the bowl cake to bond evenly with the charcoal layer before enjoying your favorite fine pipe tobacco blends.
