A striking and humorous Soviet social satire showing several generations of one family. The father works at a machine tool, the mother works at a construction site, the grandfather chops wood, and the grandmother cooks.
In contrast, the young son lounges on a sofa, smoking a cigarette, drinking, and listening to records instead of working. His fashionable clothes and appearance give him the characteristic image of a Soviet-era “stilyaga” or idle young dandy.
The poster is an interesting example of Soviet visual propaganda criticizing laziness, idleness and a lifestyle considered socially unproductive.
