A vintage Dumas machete from the
WWII era—commonly referred to by collectors as a "Coup-Coup". These were historically standard-issue entrenching tools for French colonial troops and Senegalese riflemen.
I’m not an expert on military items and am describing it to the best of my ability based on what information I was able to obtain online. So please if you are uncertain or feel the item is the incorrect era it is not intentional.
Getting to its condition it has areas of pitting and lite surface rust areas at the bottom of the blade where it meets the handle and also at the top by the tip. The tip of the blade also has a small Chip, and the wooden handle is loose and is sticky in areas. The original leather sheath is dried out and could use a conditioner treatment and is separated from the seams in various areas due to the thread being dried out.
