This unusual 4" x 4" orange plastic maze was created to promote Prozac Weekly. The front incorporates a maze based on a relapse curve, with markings including “Begin,” “Relapse,” “Goal of Therapy,” “Efficacy,” and “Safety.” It states that the design was adapted from a 1999 Kupfer curve.
The reverse contains a conventional maze design, and the original Prozac prescribing and safety information remains enclosed beneath the factory wrapping.
Prozac Weekly was a 90 mg delayed-release fluoxetine capsule taken once weekly. The formulation received FDA approval in 2001, making this promotional piece approximately 25 years old. Prozac Weekly was marketed by Eli Lilly and Company and has since been discontinued.
The combination of the recognizable Prozac name, unusual interactive maze design, original literature, and unopened condition makes this a particularly interesting example of early-2000s pharmaceutical sales-representative advertising.
