Interesting vintage political memorabilia lot featuring 4 pinback buttons, including a large Philadelphia political button with documented Samuel Hoffman collector provenance.


Included:


1. Large “FUSION / WHITE FOR MAYOR / STEVENS FOR DISTRICT ATTORNEY / CANDIDATES” button


* Approximately 3½ inches in diameter.

* Large-format vintage political button.

* The reverse has a cardboard backing stamped:

“SAMUEL HOFFMAN / Collector of Presidential Items / GLADSTONE HOTEL / PHILADELPHIA 7, PA.”

* Samuel Hoffman was a Philadelphia collector/dealer known for presidential campaign buttons and political memorabilia during the 1950s.

* The same Hoffman collector stamp is documented on other large Philadelphia political buttons that have appeared in major sale sales.


2–4. Three John Heinz for Senate buttons


* Two blue versions.

* One red version.

* All are pinback buttons.

* John Heinz’s 1976 Pennsylvania Senate campaign is well documented in archival records, including a “John Heinz for Senate” button in the Muhlenberg College archives.

* Contemporary 1976 records also document the John Heinz for Senate campaign committee.


Condition


Vintage condition with age-related wear.


The large Hoffman-backed button has toning, discoloration, surface scratches, scuffs and general wear. The cardboard backing shows age and wear but the Samuel Hoffman stamp remains clearly readable.


The Heinz buttons have varying degrees of surface wear, scratches and discoloration. All have their original pinbacks.
