Lovely lot of 34 vintage perfume and cologne labels, loose and apparently unused, never applied to a bottle. Most are embossed metallic foil, and they make great material for perfume bottle restoration, collage, junk journals, scrapbooking, or display alongside a vintage vanity collection.
The highlight of the lot are labels from Ybry, the luxury French perfume house founded in Paris in 1925 by Simon Jaroslawski, known for its Art Deco Baccarat crystal bottles and once advertised as the most expensive perfume in the world. Included are round embossed seals for Joie de Vivre (blue center), Devinez (red center), Amour Sauvage, Les Fleurs d\'Ybry and Infusion de Parfum Gardenia, plus a small round green Les Parfums Ybry seal and diamond-shaped silver Amour Sauvage Ybry Paris France labels. Devinez dates to 1927, Amour Sauvage and Les Fleurs d\'Ybry to the late 1920s, and Joie de Vivre to 1935. The colorful Joie de Vivre and Devinez seals are less often seen than the Gardenia and Amour Sauvage versions.
Also included are the Orli New York-Paris parfum labels with a classical Greek theme. Based on the typography and design these appear to date to roughly the late 1960s to 1970s, though I was unable to find documented history for the company. There are smaller Daphne, Athena and Delphina labels with a gold foil frieze design, and the larger Athena, Thalia and Delphina labels with a Corinthian column beneath a gold foil name panel.
Rounding out the lot are Jumelles Curtain Call Cologne labels (Jumelles introduced Curtain Call in 1957), Misty Perfume gold labels with an oil lamp design and \"Best Loved Girls\' Books,\" Parfums de France Supreme label by Lancry Paris-Grasse-New York, Nymphia Concentre Philippe Lalo label, Tout Paris Eau de Parfum 8 fl. oz. label distributed by Ravel N.Y., 1 Odeurs de Paris Minuit (Midnight) label, a purple Parfum L\'Fleuron label, and a round embossed script \"S\" seal.
Please see photo with measuring tape for scale.
Condition: Very good vintage condition overall. Labels appear unused. Two labels show a little wear on the corners, and some of the foil labels show light creasing or surface wear consistent with age. Please see all photos, as they are part of the description.
Note: The historical background in this listing is my own research, done online for fun, and should be taken with a grain of salt rather than as verified fact.
