Fun mid-century vintage round metal tin featuring a humorous, colorful wrap-around story in stylized Pennsylvania Dutch dialect.
The graphics tell a playful courtship story across multiple panels:
• Top Lid: "Johnny und Katy are such schmutzers" (features a boy and girl kissing)
• Side 1: "Katy wants marryin'...but she aint so long 18 yet"
• Side 2: "aint you won't tell nobody that we were schmutzin'"
• Side 3: "Rachael with Abram in his new courtin' buggy"
Condition Details:
• Exterior: The lithograph graphics and paint remain incredibly bright, glossy, and vibrant. The bottom base is very clean. There is a noticeable vertical dent on the "schmutzin" side panel between the characters, along with minor paint wear/scratches along the bottom edges.
• Interior: The inside of the tin and the underside of the lid have heavy rust, oxidation, and spotting.
Because of the internal rust, this item is being sold strictly for decorative display use (looks great on a shelf, windowsill, or atop kitchen cabinets) rather than food storage. Please review all photos carefully to see the exact condition of the dent and interior.
This item was purchased in Pennsylvania USA ,by my parents in our 1976 road trip from west coast to east coast then up thru Canada and the Yukon to Alaska on the original gravel road Alcan Hwy.and back down the westcoast to Oregon.
-Original owner .. had been placed on shelf in kitchen on display until a few years back , upon both their passing.. hoping now it finds another warm wonderful home to be on display once again.
