This is a LOT of four vintage P&O Line item from the SS Stratheden and SS Ranchi
FIRST ITEM:Vintage Cruise Ship MenuP&O Line (which stands for Peninsular & Oriental)The line was founded in 1837 making it the oldest cruise line in the worldCurrently owned by Carnival Cruise LinesShip - SS StrathedenSports and Amusements Program for the week of June 11, 1938

Programme of Events included Gymkhana, Quoits, and Tennis as well as deck games of Whist, Table Tennis and Bat Tennis (\"partners will be drawn for\"). In the schedule there is also a breakdown of stops along the way including Athens, Malta and Southampton. Also includes the schedule for the Race Meeting and Fancy Dress Dance.
SS Stratheden was a UK-built steam turbine ocean liner. She spent most of her career with the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, including the Second World War when she served for six years as a troop ship.
In 1964 John S Latsis bought Stratheden, renamed her Henrietta Latsi and put her into service as a cruise ship. In 1966 he renamed her Marianna Latsi. She was laid up from 1967 and scrapped in 1969.
Stratheden was the fourth to be built of a set of five sister ships that came to be called the \"Strath\" class. All previous P&O steamships had black-painted hulls and funnels but the \"Strath\" class were painted with white hulls and buff funnels, which earned them the nickname \"The Beautiful White Sisters\" or just \"The White Sisters\".

Price for this program was one shilling. It appears to be entirely for the \"horse race\" and refers to the proceeds of the sale of the \"Race Cards\" going to charities.
On the front is a list of the Judges and Stewards as well as a list of \"The Ranchi Girls\".On the inside and the back cover are the details of the heats, with each Heat including the name of the horse, its colors as well as its siring (these were wooden horses, so this level of detail seems unnecessarily bizarre)On the back there is a reference to the rules saying that the horses need to maintain a straight line down the middle of the tape, and \"if she runs off the course, i.e., cuts through the margin of the tape, the \"horse\" must return and re-enter the course at the place where she ran off.\" This seems to indicate this was NOT a roll of the dice movement as seems common. These were actually being reeled in by the Ranchi Girls - a reference I found elsewhere online when researching Racecards.SS Ranchi was Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company \"R\"-class steam ocean liner that was built in 1925 and scrapped in 1953. She had berths for 600 passengers. Named after the city in India, the SS Ranchi regularly sailed between England and Bombay, India until it was conscripted for military service on 27 August 1939 - interestingly, that was one month prior to the official start of WWII so they knew something was coming... On 16 December 1943 she was attacked by the aircraft bomber Heinkel He 111 where one bomb went straight through the ship before exploding. The ship was returned to P&O in 1947 and became an emigrant ship traveling between the UK and Australia until being scrapped in 1953

He landed at Waiting Island, in the Bahamas, subsequently discovering Cuba and Hispaniola, or Haiti. He returned to Spain in January 1943.
