The metal framework is finely textured and decorated throughout with colorful raised floral enamel work in shades of green, turquoise, cobalt blue, pink, red and white. Additional chased/engraved foliate decoration appears along the interior lid frame. Hinged lid with decorative front clasp.
The underside is impressed CHINA. An attractive vintage Chinese export decorative object with considerable visual presence for its relatively small size.
Measures approximately 5 1/4" wide × 4 1/4" deep. Weight is approximately 1 lb 2.2 oz.
Vintage condition with considerable age-related character and wear. There is visible loss, chipping and wear to portions of the colorful enamel decoration, particularly around edges, corners and the front clasp area. Brass-tone metal shows tarnish, oxidation, discoloration, scratches and finish wear. Interior metal bottom has substantial surface discoloration and wear. The underside has a rectangular area of finish/residue indicating something may previously have been attached there. Clasp and hardware show age/use wear. Pale stone panels show natural color and internal variation; please examine all photographs closely for condition and construction. No restoration has been performed.
