For Sale: One Stanley Bailey No. 7, Type 9/10 Jointer Plane

This Stanley Bailey No 7 was acquired at an estate sale and the bed, frog, irons, lever cap, and all fasteners have been left in as-found condition. The Tote and Knob are original rosewood pieces that required some repairs and have been refinished with three lite coats of amber shellac. The cutting iron is a 'Y' trademark piece (replacement) with good length and light discoloration, but no heavy pitting on the surfaces. The lever cap is free of chips and pitting, and has a nice tight spring. There are zero visible cracks on any edge of the bed of this plane. Based on information I've learned about these planes, the forward leaning tote and lack of a frog adjustment screw are typical of a type 9 Bailey, while the tall center 'Rib' cast into the bed (that centers the front of the frog) is an indicator of the type 10 Bailey. Maybe this plane falls somewhere in the middle.

All in all, this is a complete and fully functional number 7, with some beautiful rosewood handles, that can be cleaned up, sharpened, and put to use.
