For Sale: One Stanley Bailey No. 4, Type 11 Corrugated Bottom Smoothing Plane

This plane is an un-restored and lightly cleaned example of an early type 11 number 4 Bailey. There are no visible cracks or chips in the bed of this plane and lite pitting is confined to the bottom. The cheeks are showing a nice dark patina. The plane includes a ‘T’ trademark cutting iron that is near full length and is sharp enough to cut some thin shavings off a slab of black walnut. The lever cap is free of chips and pitting, and has a nice tight spring. Both the tote and knob are crack free and have what appears to be their original finishes. The tote specifically has a beautiful golden chatoyance that is clearly visible on both sides. The lateral adjustment lever roller shows none of the typical damage seen from the irons being clamped down incorrectly, and the lever itself is pinned snug to the frog. All in all, this is a very nice plane that displays well and functions perfectly.
