Beautiful pair of vintage Japanese display dolls by Nishi & Co., Ltd., Japan, featuring elaborate traditional costumes, detailed hand-painted facial features, ornate hair accessories, and finely made textile clothing.
One retains the original “NISHI ND DOLL – NISHI & CO., LTD. – MADE IN JAPAN” maker's label. These appear to date approximately from the mid-20th century, likely 1950s–1970s.
The pair includes one elegantly dressed Japanese woman in a light-colored kimono with an elaborate traditional hairstyle and hair ornaments, along with a larger and especially striking ceremonial/theatrical figure wearing a colorful layered costume.
They display beautifully together and would make an excellent addition to a collection of vintage Japanese dolls, Asian art, mid-century décor, or Japanese cultural items.
Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition. Please examine photos carefully for age-related wear, dust, fabric discoloration, or other imperfections. Dolls have not been professionally cleaned.
