This listing is for a vintage Nantucket lightship style handwoven basket w/Swing Handle. The origins of these iconic baskets trace back to the 19th century, when they were woven by crew members stationed on the South Shoals Lightship, 42 miles off the coast of Nantucket, to pass the long hours at sea. This piece showcases beautiful craftsmanship with traditional tight cane weaving and an elegant wrapped rim.It measures approximately 6” tall (12” including the handle up) and 8” diameter.No maker's mark has been identified. This basket is described as Nantucket style; NO claim is being made that it is an antique Nantucket-made Lightship basket.Condition: In very good vintage condition, A few scuffs on handle, and a small piece of wicker missing (Please See Photos)Shipping: I carefully package all items!
