Vintage Air Corps Tactical School (ACTS) distinctive unit insignia pin from the pre-WWII U.S. Army Air Corps era. This striking military insignia features blue and green enamel with a central hand grasping lightning bolts, topped by a winged design.
The lower scroll bears the Latin motto “Proficimus More Irretenti,” meaning “We progress unhindered by custom,” reflecting the forward-thinking aviation doctrine associated with the Air Corps Tactical School.
The reverse is maker marked N.S. Meyer, a well-known American manufacturer of military insignia. An additional small hallmark or symbol is also present on the reverse. The exact metal content has not been confirmed, so this piece is being described as silver tone rather than sterling.
Displays age-related patina, surface wear, and enamel wear consistent with its age. A fantastic early piece of U.S. military aviation history and an excellent addition to an Army Air Corps, WWII-era, aviation, or military insignia collection.
