-These pieces are vintage chalkware dog wall plaques that were widely popular mid-century kitchen and bedroom decorations.
-This was a very common medium for carnival prizes and kitchen decorations during that time.
-The distinct mold shapes and painted details, several of these designs were manufactured by Miller Studio Inc., a company famous for producing hand-painted chalkware wall plaques starting in the 1950s and 1960s.
-Because chalkware is made from relatively fragile plaster, pieces frequently suffer from small paint chips or scuffs.
****- These plaques have preserved their original hand-painted details quite nicely.
- One chalkware is a Scotty / Terrier dog face wall plaque or hanger. It features a molded terrier face with a textured finish, hollow or recessed black eyes, a black snout, and a small red protruding tongue.
-One chalkware hound dog wall plaque. A sad-eyed hound or basset dog head with long, dark floppy ears and a big black nose.
-One chalkware puppy dog wall plaque. A tan and black puppy with large eyes and a red tongue sticking out, styled for wall hanging.
