This listing is for a vintage (created roughly in the Mid 20th c.) Mexican tonala pottery plate. These folk art plates were created in the Mexican city of Tonalá and are made from burnished clay that incorporates Mexican soil in its mixture. The traditional hand painted designs are inspired by nature which is reflective in the bird designs on the artistic plates listed above. This ceramic pottery is made for decorative use.
There is no artist signature other than "Mexico" painted on the front, so plate is to be considered unsigned.
It is in good vintage condition and rustic as designed. There are some minor scratches and wear to the painted finish in some areas - I'm unsure if this is due to age and wear but in my opinion it appears to be due to the artistry and earthy nature of the design.
Due to the clay construction, the plate is pretty weighty- measures approximately 1.5 lbs. Item will be shipped via UPS Ground Delivery.

These plates can be displayed on stands or hung on a gallery wall. There is no hardware for hanging, like the string or twisted wire that can be seem on some tonala plates.
