Colorful mid-century Mexican folk art pair, hand-painted on coarse burlap (jute) canvas, depicting a traditionally dressed man and woman in vivid acrylic hues. These cheerful, naïve-style figures evoke the rustic tourist art popular in Mexico and the American Southwest during the 1960s–1980s.
Each painting is framed in dark stained wood with original paper backing marked Framery – Mesa • Tempe • Scottsdale.
Details • Medium: Acrylic paint on burlap (jute) • Era: Circa 1970s • Origin: Mexico (likely tourist or export art) • Frame Size (each): 24” H × 16” W • Combined Weight: 6 lb 8 oz
Condition: Good vintage condition overall. Paint surfaces bright and intact. Burlap slightly loose with minor undulation and separation at edges. Paper backing has tears and discoloration from storage (see photos).
Notes:Signatures visible lower right on each piece, but not consistent with the refined style or documented signature of Mexican artist José María de Servín (1917–1983). These appear instead to be decorative folk-style works influenced by his school or the broader mid-century Mexican tourist art movement.
