Vintage Matchbook Lot of 12 – MGM Grand Las Vegas, Hotels, Motels & Restaurants For Sale

Lot of 12 vintage advertising matchbooks from hotels, motels, restaurants, a grocery chain, and local businesses. Nice mix of graphics and mid-century advertising. Great for a matchcover collection, man cave, bar display, or ephemera lot. Road-trip mix: national chains, a Las Vegas landmark, a grocery, and small-town motels and restaurants.

Included (as pictured):

• Houston’s Host to the Nation (green)-Civic slogan used by Houston hotels and the city when it was selling itself as a convention town (Astrodome era and after). Generic hotel or visitors-bureau book.
• From Winn Dixie – The Beef People (steak photo cover)-Southeastern grocery chain. Photo of steaks on the cover; they pushed meat as a house brand.
  Unusual in in a restaurant collection, but grocery matchbooks were common when stores still sold cigarettes at the register.
• Yellow bird / nature scene cover
• The Pay Off-Name of a bar or lounge. \"Payoff\" was a popular mid-century cocktail-lounge name.
• Rainbow “H” cover-Hilton logo from the 1970s-80s (rainbow over the H). Chain-wide
• MGM Grand Hotel Las Vegas (lion logo – most collectible piece)
• “Just a few smiles from home.” (red)
• Northville Charley’s (chef graphic)-Charley\'s Deli and Grille, 16873 Haggerty Road, Northville, Michigan (Detroit suburbs). Family deli/ grille - corned beef, Philly steaks, breakfast. Still
• ZaPaul’s Eatery & Spirits – Pasta • Ribs • Fish-Neighborhood Italian (\"reis/feih\" looks like a typeset stumble for rice/fish or similar). Local spot; not a national.
• Ver-Von Motel, Ray, N. Dak. (kitchenettes, TV, phones – Dial 568-3388)-Highway motel in Ray, North Dakota (Williams County, oil-patch country near Williston). \"Clean-Modern Rooms, Kitchenettes-TV Phones\" is textbook 1960s-70s motor-court copy. Printed by Edward I. Plotte Co., Pennsylvania. Ray is tiny; the motel is long gone or absorbed.

Condition
Pre-owned / vintage. Mixed: some appear full or nearly full, others show used strikers and light wear, edge wear, or fading consistent with age. See photos for exact condition of each book. Sold as a lot.

Notes for collectors
MGM Grand Las Vegas (original lion-era hotel, opened 1973) is the standout. Winn-Dixie “Beef People” is a recognizable grocery advertising piece. Small-town items (Ver-Von Motel in Ray, ND; The Silo in Coventry, NY, later lost to fire) add local-history interest.
