Up for sale is a classic 1950s/1960s Mid-Century Modern tension pole lamp featuring an enameled and brass column, atomic-style molded plastic cone shades, and turned walnut-finish wooden finials.
This lamp is an excellent find for a restoration project, an MCM mid-century collector, or anyone looking for rare original replacement parts to complete another lamp.
Key Features & Condition Details:
• Fully Functional: The internal switch and mechanics work perfectly. Both attached lights turn on as they should.
• Original Wiring: Features the original factory cord in good, safe, non-split condition (always recommend vintage electronics be checked by a professional before daily use).
• Shades: Includes two original white molded plastic cone shades with wooden tips. The plastic is structurally sound with no cracks, splits, or major discoloration. One of the shades needs to be reattached as it is hanging from a wire.
• Missing Component: The lamp originally featured three lights. The top third shade and its internal socket assembly are missing. The bare brass mounting bracket is still intact on the pole (see photos).
• Cosmetic Condition: The brass and enameled pole pieces show vintage patina, light oxidation, and minor scuffing typical of an authentic 60-year-old piece. The top tension spring shows normal wear. The bottom spring has issues but the lamp still held tight when I had it up.
