Vintage Lot of Spode Christmas Tree Plate Candle Holder, Bowls, Ornament EnglandThis is an authentic 6-piece vintage collection of Spode Christmas Tree holiday tableware and giftware.The set includes:
- One 10.5-inch "Cookies for Santa" plate made in England
- Two wide-base taper candlestick holders made in England
- One 5.5-inch nut bowl NIB made in England
- One heart-shaped candy dish NIB made in England
- One rocking horse ornament NIB made in China
The ceramic tableware pieces feature the iconic holiday design originally created for Spode in 1938 by designer Harold Holdway.
Five pieces in this set are clearly backstamped "Made in England" and feature standalone factory pool numbers (16, 17, 32) alongside hand-painted decorator marks, dating their production to the late 1970s to the 1980s.While the Christmas Tree pattern remains in active production today, this specific vintage English-manufactured earthenware is discontinued, as Spode closed its historic Stoke-on-Trent, England factory in 2008 and outsourced all subsequent production. The rocking horse ornament is still affixed to the packaging so I could not photograph the backstamp. It is marked made in China and was likely made around 2008-10.
The nut bowl, heart dish and ornament are in their original boxes and in excellent vintage condition. The cookie plate and is structurally sound but shows signs of wear (not chips) to the green rims as shown in the photos. The candle holders are structurally sound but there is chipping to the green rims as shown in the photos. Please examine all photos closely to ascertain condition.
