Vintage lot of two matching Buck Model 305 Lancer 2-blade pocket knives with one original yellow factory box. The main blade tangs carry the clean, three-line hallmark "BUCK / 305 / U.S.A." with no date code symbols. This configuration confirms production during the collectible 1972 to 1985 "Pre-Date Code" era, when the Lancer model was manufactured for Buck under premium contract by the Camillus Cutlery Company in Camillus, New York.
Each compact Lancer framework features black sawcut Delrin composition handle scales with an inlaid nickel silver oval Buck shield, measuring approximately 2 5/8 inches in closed length. Each houses a folding high-carbon stainless steel clip point blade and an opposing coping pen blade.
The entire lot is in solid, functional condition, showing an honest history of pocket carry and utility. The black sawcut Delrin handles display superficial pocket-wear scuffs, surface abrasions, and smoothing to the texture from handling, but remain tight to the brass liners and free of cracks. The stainless steel blades exhibit normal cosmetic wear from historical task work, including surface scratches, pocket scuffs, and minor age tarnish, while retaining full profiles and strong tips. Mechanically, both pieces are excellent, operating with good spring tension and a positive mechanical snap upon opening and closing. The original yellow box shows standard shelf wear and minor structural softening but remains completely intact with a clear end-flap label reading "LANCER / MODEL NO. 305".
