Vintage Letter Opener Mother Pearl Griped. The letter opener in the center has pieces of mother of pearl glued in like tiles. The letter opener is handmade and very well built and is unable to be taken apart. The letter opener center of balance is in the middle where the mother Pearl is. The maker and age of the letter opener is unknown. My guess for the age range is 1930s-1960s. I do not know the composition of the metal most likely an alloy metal, It is not silver. Metal on the letter opener is non-magnetic. The letter opener has a strange patina-like film on it most of it has been taken off but in the grooves of the letter opener still has some of the film, But can be taken off with some strong metal polish. The mother of pearl has some chips in it. You can also see some glue residue on the mother of pearl. The letter opener has some erosion spots on it and some scratches.
