Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible mid-century French promotional keychain (porte-clés publicitaire) for the legendary, historic Michelin-starred restaurant Le Coq Hardy in Bougival, France.
This is an elite, high-quality piece crafted by the prestigious French jeweler and medalist Maison Augis in Lyon, rather than the common plastic keychains of the era.
Design & Details:
Front: Features a beautifully detailed, cut-out golden rooster (the national symbol of France) set within a vibrant, rich blue enamel border. It reads: "LE COQ HARDY - BOUGIVAL (S&O) Tel: 143".
Back: Showcases the striking reverse silhouette of the rooster with a textured brass finish.
Clasp: The original brass hardware is intact and stamped with "AA. BREVETE" and "AUGIS LYON" on the reverse side of the ring mechanism.
Historical Significance & Dating:
Pre-1968 Era: The front features the (S&O) stamp for the Seine-et-Oise department, which was officially dissolved in 1968, accurately dating this piece to the 1950s or 1960s.
Vintage Telephone Number:
