Up for sale is a magnificent example of mid-century modern Scandinavian art glass: an authentic 6-inch "Iceberg" block sculpture designed by the legendary Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta Sweden.This substantial piece is hand-formed to replicate a rugged, chiseled block of arctic ice, showcasing a beautiful translucent, glacier-green hue. Masterfully etched into the reverse cave structure is a frosted, highly detailed intaglio depiction of an Inuit woman and child. The flat front face is highly polished, acting as a viewing window that beautifully refracts and bounces light.The bottom rim is hand-signed by the artist: "Kosta V. Lindstrand LU 2001".Condition Report (Please Read)This vintage piece is being sold as-is due to two minor chips located on the sharpest peaks of the rugged, chiseled top crest (please review the close-up photos for exact details).Because the entire upper edge of the sculpture was intentionally designed to look like raw, cracked ice, these shell-shaped (conchoidal) fleabites blend incredibly well into the natural architecture of the glass and do not impact the structural integrity. The polished flat front face, the base, and the internal frosted figures remain clean, and bright.
