Vintage 1960s Japanese Uchikake Wedding Silk Kimono
Beautiful white-cream robe with green and gold accents and gold embroidered cranes.
I purchased this at an estate sale in 2014 along with a companion robe that I sold several years ago. The owner's uncle bought them for her when he was a pilot for Pan Am back in the 1960s.
Since then it has been on display in my home (as depicted in the photos). This is a gorgeous piece that captures the eye with its vibrant colors and beautiful hand-embroidered metallic cranes.
It's in excellent condition for its age with some minor yellowing/spots on some parts of the white-cream base. There are no tears or rips.
It is also signed but I cannot make out the characters which are a bit faded.
In order to display it flat on the wall, I sewed some *very* thin thread into the front, which I have removed in order to take photos of the inside of the robe. The holes are there but barely visible, and I'd suggest using this same technique if you want to hang it on the wall.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Any reasonable offer considered.
