Up for sale is a beautiful vintage Japanese Satsuma-style moriage porcelain vase, beautifully hand-painted by Hotta Yu Shoten & Co. for the Western export market.

- Manufacturer: Hotta Yu Shoten & Co. Features the distinct red stamped "H inside a cherry blossom" export mark on the base reading "Hand Painted Japan."

- Estimated Age: Circa 1920s–1930s (Pre-WWII era).

- Height: Approximately 6.5 inches tall.

- Design & Subject: The front panel features a highly detailed, hand-painted depiction of Kannon (the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy and Compassion) resting in front of a prominent celestial halo. The vase displays exceptional, tactile raised moriage (slip-trailed) enamel detailing along the robes and gold border linings.

- Glaze & Finish: The artwork is set against a traditional cream-colored Satsuma style background featuring fine, intentional crackle glaze (kannyu). The top rim and footed base are highlighted with a striking, deep glossy cobalt blue glaze. The reverse side features a clean, minimalist raised landscape mountain line art design.

Condition:

Excellent vintage pre-owned condition consistent with age. There are no major structural chips, cracks, or repairs. The body shows beautiful, uniform age-appropriate light glaze crazing.
