Traditional Japanese Sasano-bori carved wooden hawk or falcon, commonly called an Otakapoppo. This Japanese folk-art carving originated in the Yonezawa area of Yamagata Prefecture.
The bird is carved from wood and features hand-painted eyes, beak, feather markings, and talons. Thin curls of carved wood create the detailed layered wings and tail feathers. Sasano-bori hawks traditionally represent strength, courage, and good fortune.

Condition
Good vintage pre-owned condition. Light surface marks, minor paint wear, and natural variations in the wood are present. The thin curled feather sections are delicate.
