This miniature tabletop diorama features two hand-painted mini Kokeshi-style peg dolls nestled beneath a natural piece of tree bark alongside a decorative sheaf of dried straw.The bottom of the solid wood base features a handwritten ink marking that reads "十和田湖" (Towada-ko), indicating it was originally purchased as a local travel souvenir (omiyage) from the scenic Lake Towada region on the border of Aomori and Akita prefectures in northern Japan.
