Offered here is a beautiful hand woven vintage Japanese Ikebana flower basket (Hanakago), perfect for rustic, Wabi-Sabi or Mid Century home decor.
Measuring 16 inches in length, this elongated rectangular basket features an intricate tight twill weave made from naturally aged smoked split bamboo. It has a charcoal wash and the ends are fitted with distinctly braided, twisted rattan loop handles that remain securely attached and are structurally sound. The base is woven bamboo as well and it does not have a metal tray insert.
Condition is excellent vintage condition, minor splashes of the wash used on inside sides( pictured) and tightly woven, no breaks, etc.
It’s a handsome piece that can hold dried flowers, function for low profile displays, for asthetic open storage, even for a bread or crackers basket.
