A small goblet with a big story. This Israeli Kiddush cup pairs a deep verdigris green patina with hand-painted enamel accents in coral red, turquoise, white, and black, framing the Hebrew word L’Chaim, “to life,” in gold-outlined script. Berry clusters and leaves wrap the cup, with a small blossom on the reverse.
The polished brass stem is turned with a ringed collar, and the round base is a showpiece of its own, with a band of the twelve zodiac signs set in bright brass against the green. The interior of the cup is brass.
Beautiful for Shabbat and holiday tables, as a meaningful gift for a wedding, bar or bat mitzvah, or housewarming, or styled on a shelf as a piece of collected Judaica. Marked Israel on the underside.
Measures approximately 5.25 inches tall, 2.25 inches across the rim, and 2.25 inches across the base.
Weight: 0.4 lbs.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The green patina is part of the original finish. Hand-painted enamel is bright and intact. The brass base edge shows light wear and the underside has natural darkening and a small spot of residue in the center recess.
