Up for sale is a beautiful, highly detailed trio of vintage Indian religious and celestial woodcarvings. This matching estate set features exceptional, true three-dimensional craftsmanship. Unlike cheaper tourist souvenirs that are left completely flat and unfinished on the reverse side, each of these statues is intricately carved all the way around (360 degrees) and mounted on elegant, dark-stained wooden plinth bases.
The wood is dense, finely grained, and features a gorgeous light honey-amber tone reminiscent of traditional Mysore carvings.
The Trio Includes:1. Lord Radha & Krishna (10 Inches Tall): The centerpiece of the collection, beautifully depicting the divine lovers. Krishna stands in a classic posture holding his flute while embracing Radha. Intricately detailed with traditional water pots and floral elements at their feet.
2. Goddess Lakshmi / Divine Apsara (7 Inches Tall): A graceful celestial female figure standing upon a blooming lotus flower base, framed by a gorgeous open-work ornate halo arch (prabhavali).
3. Seated Meditating Figure / Buddha (5 Inches Tall): The smallest of the group, depicting a figure in a peaceful cross-legged meditative posture under a detailed circular tree canopy, holding up a hand in the Abhaya Mudra (gesture of fearlessness).
