Such a wonderful and unusual piece of vintage Imperial Glass!This covered candy dish by Imperial Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio was made in the whimsical shape of an old-fashioned flat iron, also known as a sad iron. It is part of Imperial’s Line No. 971 “Flat Iron”, which was produced from approximately 1962–1968. Made in a beautiful transparent amethyst-purple glass, this piece has wonderful detail throughout. The iron-shaped base features a repeating geometric diamond design, decorative scalloped edging, small raised feet, and a molded rear handle. The fitted lid continues the geometric pattern and is topped by an especially charming raised twisted glass handle.At approximately 9 inches long, it has a substantial presence while still being a perfect size for display.Originally designed as a covered candy dish, it would also make a gorgeous trinket box, jewelry dish, vanity accessory, or simply a unique piece for an Imperial or vintage glass collection.Does have minor chip on lower rim as shown can’t be seen with lidExperienced glass shipper and fast shipping!
