Large vintage sterling silver turquoise belt buckle, signed “Caren” and dated 1979.
The turquoise cabochon measures approximately 3¾\" × 2⅝\" and rises to approximately ½\" at its deepest point. Buckle overall measures approximately 4¼\" × 3\".
The stone displays beautiful brown matrix with small metallic-looking flecks. Photos were reviewed by Nila Brown of Browns Trading Co. in Arizona, who stated: “It looks like I’m seeing some small flecks of pyrite in the matrix. I would say this is Morenci turquoise.”
This is a photo-based opinion; the mine origin has not been laboratory verified.
Sterling silver has an attractive natural patina. Very nice workmanship and an impressive, unusually large turquoise cabochon.
