Vintage Griswold No. 6 Cast Iron Skillet 699 K Erie PA Small Logo For Sale

Up for sale is a number 6 cast iron skillet Small Block manufactured by Griswold

All pieces have been professionally restored via a 2-step lye bath and electrolysis process. Once cleaned down to bare metal, pieces are tripled seasoned with a blend of grape seed oil, sunflower oil and beeswax. Some will recommend other oils. But I have found this blend provides an attractive yet still durable finish.

These are vintage pieces, some over 100 years old. Any noteworthy defects likely to affect usability or collectability (cracks, major warps, chips, etc.) will be noted below. However, small scratches, flea bites, and casting imperfections are normal due to manufacturing technologies of the era and decades of use. Please review all photos carefully.

All photos are taken with bright lights . It guarantees that buyers can make an accurate assessment of condition.

Many sellers like to advertise “Sits Flat” in their listings. In my years of experience, a vintage pan that sits 100% flat with NO movement on a machined metal or stone surface is rare. There’s nothing more frustrating than buying a pan advertised as “Sits Flat” only to discover that in fact is not the case. Therefore, I prefer to avoid the term. Flatness of all pans I sell is measured by maintaining downward pressure on one side and attempting to slide a business card under the opposite edge. Pans with <1 business card deflection would likely be advertised as “sits flat” by many sellers. Pans with <2 business cards of deflection are generally suitable for cooking on glass cooktops. Pans with more significant warps can still perform excellently on electric coil and natural gas ranges.
