Vintage Griswold No 3 (2103) Cast Iron Square-Fry Skillet Ex Restored Condition For Sale

This is an uncommon Griswold No 3 square cast iron skillet with a groove handle.The groove handle was the very last series of skillets produced and date the skillet to a very narrow time period, namely either 1956 or 1957.I wouldn't call this pan rare yet, but they are getting harder to locate with the passage of time.The cooking surface for these pan were not polished and were finished as cast. there is no noticeable signs of any etching from corrosion or utensil scores. This pan in excellent restored condition and you would be hard pressed to find a better example. There is a very slight clicking when trying to test for flatness. I am unable to slip a sheet of printer paper under the pan to stop the clicking. So, I'm calling this one not dead flat but flat enough.No chips, cracks, or repairs.

Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on apolished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching formovement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under oneedge of the until pot stops moving.

This item is from an old collection and was cleaned andseasoned, then stored for many years. Because the item was stored for manyyears, there may be spots of light surface rust. This can generally bewashed away then re-seasoned before use. This item is photographed invery bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions,item may take on a brown color.
