intage French Repoussé Copper Heraldic Wall Plaque
Offered is an impressive vintage French repoussé copper heraldic wall plaque, dating to approximately the mid-to-late 20th century (circa 1950s–1970s). This large decorative shield is expertly crafted in embossed copper and features a richly detailed coat of arms inspired by medieval European heraldry.
At the center is a beautifully executed knight's tournament helmet in profile, surmounted by an elegant fleur-de-lis crest. Beneath the helmet is a heraldic shield displaying a diagonal bend, a rampant lion, and additional heraldic charges, all framed by flowing acanthus leaf scrollwork rendered in high-relief repoussé.
The shield is further enhanced by a decorative studded border that imitates hand-riveted medieval armor, giving the piece an authentic period appearance. Its warm aged copper patina and impressive scale make it an outstanding statement piece for libraries, studies, entryways, wine cellars, castles, hunting lodges, or traditional European interiors.
